Workforce Development

Training for the next generation of Indigenous broadband builders

To build, sustain, and run our own broadband networks, we need more opportunities for Indigenous people to pursue careers in the broadband sector.

The Indigenous Connectivity Institute is undertaking a workforce development initiative to help train the next generation of Indigenous network technicians, engineers, and operators.

Partnering with Tribal/Indigenous colleges and universities, technical assistance partners, and Indigenous-owned broadband networks, we will offer a full spectrum of online and in-person learning opportunities, including educational on-ramps, advanced learning, and market-relevant credentials. We also offer support for youth to attend training programs.

This curriculum is being designed with and for the community to be practical, culturally relevant, and responsive to the growing need for engineering and construction expertise. Combined with mentoring and apprenticeships, the program will offer a pathway to meaningful, high-paying jobs.
